@Raven: Crossoververse comics are fun, and even more fun if there's more than one person who "get" the joke (meaning, know the characters).
I'm glad you like my version of Ran. I looked through your drawings of him, and along with the info you gave me I thought that a pose like this would suit him perfectly. I was actually worried that it was too similar to the drawings you'd done before, but well, I'm glad it isn't. :3

@Frost: Don't tempt me! XD After paying for the next two commissions I'm getting of my GW characters, I'm gonna be close to broke. So I may just open up commissions again when that happens... although I've been thinking about doing some cheap irl commissions through DA, since I'm tight on money there too.
Still, gotta get a couple of other art projects out of the way first, before I can even think about the "C"-word. I'll let you know if/when I open commissions again, your character is fun to draw. Thank you for your comment!

@Tommy's: Thanks. I'm actually learning to use the texture brushes more, the brush for the collar was something really simple and different but I found a way to make it work nicely there.

Awesome, Ran came out looking great. The background design is a nice compliment to the piece.

lol I think the comic that you did still works even if the people who read it are not familiar with the characters. =P

Also, your version of Ran is different and much more engaging because he's actually looking at you face to face with his bow and arrow. I really like the foreshortening too which is something I still fail at!

*tempts Pery*
You'll be near broke? What a coincidence, I've got piles of money I have no idea what to do with lol
As much as I love my Frosty, I think it may soon be time to move on to a new character, we'll see how I feel once you get around to that "c" word
And your welcome for the comment.

I'm gonna' post here because the other thread on GW2 is littered with crap. The Sylvari guardian came out really cool. I really like the floral designs on the armor, especially on the breast plate. The photo-textures (I think they were textures) of the chain-mail were also a nice touch.

Eh, might as well post this here too since I don't have a thread over at GW2Guru yet. I'll make one, once I have more GW2 stuff drawn.

Sylvari Guardian, for the weekly drawing thread at GW2Guru forums.

@Charlie: Yes, the chainmail is a photo texture. I was going to draw the links by hand at first, and then thought that it would take way too long so I just slapped on a texture. Thank you, glad you like it.
And yeah... the thread is getting cluttered by a lot of random stuff. They're almost as off-topic as we tend to be here. ;P

@frostkisses: GAH! You evil woman. Well, I might have time to take a commission or two in a couple of weeks, depends entirely on how much time my new job is going to be taking.

@Eastern Magik: Thanks! I love drawing guys, I just don't get a chance to do it very often with art-trades or commissions. :3

@Ravenhawk: I've practiced foreshortening like crazy. I teach occasional manga workshops and stuff, and the kids there are ALWAYS asking about the best ways to do foreshortening, so I had to go out and learn it. Thanks for the comment!

I don't really care too much for the GW2 art board. There's only a small handful of members that actively post critiques and helpful comments. Feels kind of cliquey of there.

Not to mention, one member got kind of mopey that I didn't post a comment on their piece. I hate when I post critiques on another person's work, and they don't acknowledge it or my work. Then they ask for comments when I say nothing.

If you don't actively comment another person's work, don't expect to get any back.

In any case, this is still my favorite board on these two sites.

Yeah I think Nolani peeps' camaraderie is pretty hard to equal or surpass. We're like one big happy family here. ^_____^

THIS. So much.
I kind of had the same problem with the GW2 boards, but it could be it's just because I haven't posted there much. I'm sure that to outsiders, we seem a little cliquey too.

I actually got pissed off at that person when they demanded a comment from Charlie, because I know how annoying behaviour like that is. Didn't say anything because I didn't want to start a fight being a "new" member there and all, but if they'd demanded that from me I would probably say something nasty. Luckily I seem to be mostly ignored over there. :P

I like the fact that people here genuinely take the time to comment on other people's artwork, no matter what their skill level is or if they're the "popular" ones of the board or not. I guess it could be partly thanks to the workshops, because I do recall Nolani being a little like GW2 forums a few years back. The workshops are a good place to learn to appreciate others' art and learn to comment properly. Still, whatever the reason, you guys are awesome! <3

I will take part in GW2's weekly challenges because I love the idea, but I don't think I'll completely hop over there until GW2 comes out (or until the Library completely takes over Nolani).

@Raven: I'll think about making a tutorial. Just gotta find time to do it at some point, so many other things to draw.

I smelll gossip! D: Lol what happened over there?

The reason I don't post there a lot is because some people on there (Amanelle, AJ, TrigerSad and who not) seem to be there a lot, which I can not keep up with. So to save time I only read the comics and watch new things and restrain from commenting. Nolani is still my home <3

Oh btw Pery, I saw Eureka yesterday. Must admit it was fun to watch

Well, I don't want to be mean to anyone. Let's just say people expecting comments on their own artwork without offering the same in return, and going about it in a rather whiny way. Read page 10 of the Art Challenge if you want the full scoop. :P

Yeah, I have a difficult time keeping up with things there too. I guess it's because it's so much more active and full of people than Nolani is at the moment. When GW2 comes out I'll make more of an effort to get into the swing of things, but until then I'll hide away here where it's safer.

Tommy's, yay for pseudoscience! Just finished watching season 3 of Eureka, the science just keeps on getting wackier. XD But it's all in good fun, kind of like watching a fantasy show where the word "magic" is replaced by "science" but they still keep all the brillaint WOOOOSH effects for show.

lol, I lost track of that thread and just started to look through picture submissions without even reading. I see what you both mean though.

Yeah a tutorial would be awesome but take your time. I am equally excited to see new works from you anyway

I've had an account on GW2G since the day it opened up, but I've never actively posted there. I prefer Nolani. You guys are more awesome ^^

I definitely have to second this XD When I first checked it out, I really like seeing all the new GW art, but then later felt I just couldn't keep up. Not only do you have to keep up with threads, but you have to keep up with the latest GW2 stuff as well (I still have Ghosts of Ascalon unread on my living room table and I had to wiki what a Guardian was).

There are times when I feel Nolani is fast paced for me, too :O BRB, need to get my cane and walker, I think there are some kids on my lawn >:-(

This board feels more art related than the other one. The GW2 board to me feels more like 50% art related, and 50% OT chit-chat. I also can't keep up with everything going on there.
